[00:00:00.00] [ELECTRONIC MUSIC] [00:00:05.94] PARRIS GOEBEL: Let's break down the Royal Family "World of Dance" live performance, which went viral. And this is actually the performance that Rihanna booked me from. [00:00:16.12] [ELECTRONIC MUSIC VERSION OF "BITCH BETTER HAVE MY [00:00:19.64] MONEY"] [00:00:29.98] The awesome thing about this performance is that it resonated with everyone. It resonated with the entire world, not just dancers, from kids to families. People from all walks of life really connected with this performance. And it became iconic in its own way to me as a choreographer. And it really put my stamp on my style. [00:00:51.25] What was great about this performance is, straight off the bat, she's giving great energy, facials. And then we're using the surprise effect with different people popping up behind each other. And then I make an entrance right here. So we use the surprise effect again. Everyone drops to a lower level, and I'm coming through the center. [00:01:14.33] So we start with a beautiful V formation. I'm at the point, so I'm the hero dancer. And then we're keeping it really clean, unison. Great use of textures all throughout the girls. I'm making sure it's clean. [00:01:33.38] Right here, we use the curtain effect three times. We open up here. First hero dancer bringing lots of energy to the front of the stage. He opens up for the next hero dancer. And again, we're just bringing the energy every single time. [00:01:49.25] [ELECTRONIC MUSIC VERSION OF "BITCH BETTER HAVE MY MONEY"] [00:01:56.75] This time, we're using the surprise effect by having dancers come out in twos. And it's almost like the group is cloning itself. And this is just an awesome way to use layers. So even though the girls here have moved to the back, they are still adding energy, and they're still moving. Even though we've got three hero dances here at the front, I'm using a layer at the back to add energy to the overall picture. [00:02:29.88] And I guess the main thing for me is to keep people on their toes throughout the performance. So you're really enjoying our hero dancer here. But then she comes out of nowhere from behind and adds even more energy to his section. So it's important to keep thinking of those little gems of how you can add excitement and surprises. And it can happen in big groups, in a solo, in a duo. [00:02:55.12] [ELECTRONIC MUSIC VERSION OF "BITCH BETTER HAVE [00:02:58.20] MY MONEY"] [00:03:00.08] So we have our two hero dancers here at the front of the stage. And then we use a really great curtain effect right here. They drop down. And then they slowly reveal the next group right here, who are at the back of the stage. But they're already performing and giving energy. Then the girls drive forward. [00:03:23.48] I really love to use lines. I just thing it's clean and a nice way to showcase dancers. So here's a really great use of lines right here. The girls quickly transition into a line. And then they quick...
