[00:00:00.00] [MUSIC PLAYING] [00:00:00.99] [00:00:23.68] - It's really important to think about what level of work do you expect from yourself. Are you OK with just being OK? Are you OK with just putting out mediocre work? Or do you want to create things that will leave a legacy? Do you want to create something that will change the whole industry and change the game? Do you want to start a new way of dance? Do you want to start a new style? You know, these are all things you need to think about, because it's an expectation of yourself. [00:00:56.03] So for me, once I understood the level of work I was doing and the reach I was having, then I really started to create with an intention of greatness. And I believe most greatness happens with intention. You know, if you want to create something great, it takes so much hard work and so much energy and purpose and focus. Because it's not easy and not everyone can do great things. And there's a reason for that. [00:01:28.25] So I think first of all, you have to make that decision-- do I want to be great? Do I want to create something great? And once you make that decision, then it's a personal goal for you and it's a personal standard. And you can't settle for anything less. [00:01:43.14] [MUSIC PLAYING] [00:01:48.45] One of the biggest things that can hold you back in your career, no matter what you're doing, is comparing yourself to others. And I think that's something we naturally do as humans. But you really have to try to fight that and stop doing that. As an artist and as a performer, we're all made uniquely, and we're all made to be different. We're made to be special. [00:02:10.35] The quicker you can just grasp on what makes you special, you know, you won't have to compare yourself anymore, because you're not competing with anyone. You know, you're competing with yourself. And that's how I look at me. I look at, you know, anything I've done in my career has just been to top my own work. I'm always trying to outdo myself. I'm never looking left or right. I'm just looking at me in the mirror. [00:02:36.51] [MUSIC PLAYING] [00:02:37.50] [00:02:41.44] These are some key pointers that I feel can take your work from good to great. [00:02:48.13] Number one is don't settle. If you have a feeling that it can be better, don't be afraid to do another version, another version, another version. If it's keeping you up at night, go back into rehearsal the next day and work even harder so that you can walk away feeling proud. For me, I'm never satisfied with my first version of choreography. I do version after version after version. And, you know, sometimes, I'm still not satisfied, but it's kind of-- it's about chasing that feeling of satisfaction. It's chasing that feeling of self-pride and just contentment, like, I did my best. [00:03:29.05] So, you know, get out of your comfort zone, take risks. You, know, have that uncomfortable feeling of I know this is at my best, but then what are you're g...
