[MUSIC PLAYING] - Guess where I am right now? No, seriously, you're never going to guess, actually, where I am right now. I am on the set of my freaking MasterClass. Hey, everyone. I'm Elaine Welteroth. I started my career as a journalist. NARRATOR: 31-year-old Elaine Welteroth is getting a lot of the credit for "Teen Vogue's" success. ELAINE WELTEROTH: But I got my big break at 29 as the editor-in-chief of "Teen Vogue" and found my purpose, bridging the divide between social justice and pop culture. The crowd is revved up, and they're ready to march. While it was a dream job, sometimes, when you reach the mountaintop, you realize that there are new horizons that come into view that you want to pursue. Now I'm the author of a "New York Times" best-selling book-- - This is it! This is the one! NARRATOR: --a talk show host-- - She is proving, without a shadow of a doubt, that a woman can do that job that well. NARRATOR: --a judge on the new "Project Runway"-- I'm so grateful that you've stayed in this competition and that you came back with a vengeance. A podcast host, I've written for a hit show, and I even landed a few cameo roles as well-- OK. I'm going to stop you right there. I'd like to think of myself as more of a master in the making. I'm here in Madison, Wisconsin, to interview Joe Biden. Stacey Abrahams! President Obama! Let's start the show. What I'm mastering is what we're all collectively learning how to master every single day, which is how to successfully design a career that optimizes the best in you and allows you to feel fulfilled with the way that you're spending your time. FILM CREW MEMBER: Would you like to hit the stick? - Yes, I would like to hit the sticks! FEMALE SPEAKER: And mark! - Wooh! That's the best job on set. It's not about titles. It's not about labels. It's about dreaming out of the box and custom designing a career path that's as unique as you are. When I say the term "multi-hyphenate," what comes to mind? Maybe Renaissance woman? Maybe hustler, side hustler, mogul? Today, over a third of American workers are freelancers. They are firing on all cylinders. They're activating all of their dreams. They're breaking out of every box that the world told them they had to live in. I mean, I'm not somebody who wants to be stuck in a box. Do you? It's important that we remember that we are in the driver's seat of our lives, and we get to decide what to do with that time.
