[MUSIC PLAYING] - Whenever I was a young gymnast, what I really wanted out of gymnastics was to compete on a college team. So I wanted to get a college scholarship. That goal of mine from competing as a college gymnast changed very, very late in age, whenever I was about 18. And it changed because I was progressing really quick in this sport and I was becoming better, and we weighed our pros and cons of each of the situations, and then in the outcome, I knew that I wanted to do this full time and try to see what would come from it. I spent around 20 hours in the gym to 24 as I got older, and then it went all the way up to 28 hours, and then it went to, like, 32 hours almost. And it was a huge evolution, but you had to go little by little. It was never huge advance changes, so that we could keep on track and we did what was best for my body and mental health. As a young gymnast, you go through life changes with your body, with your mentality, as well as changing as a girl. And so upping the hours was a little bit difficult at times, especially making that transition from going to public school to home schooling. But in the end, I ultimately enjoyed it because it's what I wanted. So that was the biggest thing. [MUSIC PLAYING] Every year, I actually try to write down my goals. So short term is what's coming up in the next few months that I can really attack and try to accomplish? So that would be usually January to April-ish, and then longer terms are-- you have a little bit of a break, so what you want to accomplish in our summer training. And then we start competing back again in July. So then I have goals from June to the end of the year. And I try to focus on short term and long term because if you look at your overall goal package, it can get a little bit stressful and overwhelming. So that's why I split it into the two, so that you can really dial down in and try to accomplish what you want. I think journaling is very important at a younger age because you can really track your progress and your feelings because whenever you're younger, you-- I feel like you don't like to say your feelings out loud. So I feel like journaling helps a little bit. And I feel like that was a stress reliever for me to journal, to put my feelings down on paper or whatever confidence I was feeling, and I actually liked reading back into my journals and seeing how much I improved in the skills that I wrote and that I wanted to learn. And that I read some of the entries and I was like, wow, I did that skill, and that was one of my goals. And so it's actually really fun to reflect back on it. Something you guys can do to gain confidence is sometimes write down your goals so that you stay on track, or watch some videos, or video yourself. That always helps. [MUSIC PLAYING] I think the importance of setting your intentions for the day, for the week, for that month is your reason for the why. Of why you're doing it, why you're th...
