[MUSIC PLAYING] SIMONE BILES: This is The Biles 2 on vault at Worlds in 2018. So Worlds are the most important meets before you get to the Olympic games. Your whole entire country and your team and your staff count on you to go out there and hit your routines, your sets so that you can bring some medals home for your country and for yourself. For this vault, you roundoff onto the board. And from there, you'll go into a back handspring with a half twist. So then you're going into a forward motion vault. And then you'll do basically a front layout double full off of the table. For this vault, it's speed-driven, so you have to have a good run, good roundoff and turn over, and a good block to have the height and the speed to complete the rotation and the twist. We had been working on that for a long time, actually. Even going into this meet, we weren't sure if I was going to compete it. So we kind of took it day by day, and to feel-- get a good feel of the vault, because you have to have confidence to do something this difficult so that you're safe once you perform it. Right here I spot the board and the hand mat so that I get a good hand placement so that I get a good roundoff to turn over so that I can complete the rotation onto the vault to complete the rotation off of the vault, and then just focus on landing so that I could try to stick it. So I knew I was going to land before my feet hit, because I've done air awareness drills in the gym from the trampoline to the tumble track and then move that onto the vault. [MUSIC PLAYING] So for this competition I was very excited going in, because it's the lead-up into the Olympics and right after this I qualified for Olympic trials. So what I really thought about on this vault was to keep a good steady run, and then for your roundoff, have a good snap down on the roundoff and a good block to open up for the landing. To decide which vault to do first, it's usually-- we decided which one would go towards the all-around score. Once you have two vaults, then that's for vault finals. That's how you qualify into vault finals. And whatever vault you do first goes towards your all-around, so you try to pick your most consistent vault and your higher-scoring one potentially. This vault is called a Cheng. I had been doing it the beginning of that year. It was my first time doing it at a championships. So on this vault I overpowered it just a little bit. And that's the reason for the hot back. But we worked on a lot of landing drills in the gym, as well as entry drills so that I could get right here whenever I turn a good entry and turn all the way. A tip to not overpower your vault really come in handy whenever you're working on landing drills doing it in the gym on hard surfaces. So we worked a lot on the trampoline, going off the trampoline to do the flips and to complete the twist, as well as roundoff drills to get a good snap in a hurdle. And if...
