How to Make Eyebrows Even: 8 Tips

You can use different methods to fix uneven brows to create a balanced look, from makeup techniques with eyebrow gel and a brow pencil to semi-permanent procedures that even the shape of your brows. Try these tips and methods to get even brows:

  1. 1. Apply makeup to thin brows. For a quick, temporary fix, fill in your eyebrows with brow products. This treatment option works well if you have thin or patchy eyebrows, as you can use various brow makeup and tools to precisely shape your brow hair. Makeup artists suggest using different products depending on your hair growth. If you have thick, bushy eyebrows, opt for a brow gel or pomade, which helps keep hairs tame and in place. For thin eyebrows that require more shaping, use an eyebrow pencil or brow powder to create volume and shape.
  2. 2. Brush your brows. Using a spoolie brush or brow comb, brush your eyebrow hairs using short, upward motions to shape and define your natural brows.
  3. 3. Consider cosmetic treatments. For long-term treatment options, consider cosmetic procedures to even your eyebrows. Threading and waxing remove multiple brow hairs at once, evening out the entire brow line. These treatment options work well for evening out thick, full brows. If you have thin eyebrows, consider microblading, a technique that adds colored pigment to the brow line to create the appearance of fuller brows. Since microblading is a semi-permanent eyebrow procedure, it lasts longer than waxing and threading.
  4. 4. Give your eyebrows time to grow back. Excessive hair removal from too much waxing or overplucking can disrupt the hair growth cycle and cause unevenness in your brows. A natural way to fix uneven eyebrows is to leave your brows untreated for twelve to fifteen weeks. During the growth period, your brow hairs can regrow into your natural eyebrow shape.
  5. 5. Measure your brows. Identify where your eyebrows should start and end to get natural results when you pursue an eyebrow treatment. You can use a thin makeup brush to measure your eyebrow length, positioning the clean brush at the top of the bridge of your nose. Lay the brush straight across your nose to see if the bottoms of your eyebrows start at the same point. To determine the endpoint of your eyebrows, position the makeup brush at the end of your nose, pointing the top toward the outer edge of your eye. The point at which the makeup brush falls is where your eyebrows should end.
  6. 6. Tame thick brows with scissors. If you have bushy eyebrows, even them out by trimming long brow hairs. Eyebrow scissors have two small blades designed to cut and shape your eyebrows. Angle your scissors upward and trim any hairs that curl or bend, shaping your eyebrows and evening them out.
  7. 7. Tweeze stray hairs. If you have stray hairs around your eyebrows, use tweezers to pluck them. You can also use tweezers to even out an eyebrow that is too low. Pluck the extra hairs below your natural arch to elevate your eyebrow and even it with the opposite brow. Avoid over-plucking your brow hairs, which can make your eyebrows patchy.
  8. 8. Use a hair growth serum. If you have sparse hair or uneven brows due to hair loss, apply a growth serum to your eyebrows. Consistently using a hair growth serum can help your eyebrows grow fuller and thicker over time, resulting in an even eyebrow look.
