[00:00:00.00] [MUSIC PLAYING] [00:00:14.36] - If you hear nothing from me in this class, please hear this. Optimism is a muscle that gets stronger with use. Think about that if you're working out and you want to build a mus-- it's not bad, huh? When you want to build something, you work it. You build it, you build it, and you see it get bigger. Optimism is the same. It gets stronger. [00:00:40.37] It's like a muscle that gets stronger the more you use it. Please, please understand that. And make it a habit. I'm in the habit of being optimistic. I'm-- look, I'm not Pollyanna. You know, you can't pull one over on me. But I choose to see the good. I choose to be optimistic. I choose to take that default as opposed to the other side of it. [00:01:08.51] How do you do that? Get in the habit of it. Just make it a habit. I'm just telling you right now. I'm giving you permission, how's that? I should have a permission slip at the end of this MasterClass, and I would say, I give you permission to X, Y, and Z, because sometimes, it's like we're asking for permission, and that's how I feel about optimism. [00:01:30.88] And so I am giving you permission to be optimistic. I'm giving you permission to see that glass half-full. I know it sounds corny and all that, but it's true. And it's just because it becomes a habit like any-- like anything else, things that are bad for us can become habits. Things that are good for us can become habits as well, and that's how I look at optimism. [00:01:53.33] So challenge yourself. Put yourself to the test, and just say for two days, two days, I'm going-- I know I don't normally do this, but for two days-- because you've got to-- kind of get-- give yourself more than one day, so let's say two days. Two days, say to yourself, I am going-- even though it's not natural to me-- I'm going to be optimistic. [00:02:16.15] I'm going to look people in the eye, I'm going to say good morning. I'm going to-- I'm going to expect good from people. I'm going to expect good for myself. I know I don't normally do that. Just give it a shot. Can you give it a chance? And I think if you do that you'll see the result, and you'll-- two days will become three days will become four days. [00:02:37.32] If this is something that helps me-- because you might be saying to yourself-- about a lot of things, and this is one of them, optimism-- you know, Robin, I'll be optimistic one day. One day, how many times o we say that? One day I want to do this. One day I'm going to do that. We all say that. I say it. I say, instead of saying one day, make it day one. Flip it. It's not one day, it's day one of doing that. Just give that a shot.
