[MUSIC PLAYING] WOMAN: I was actually an entrepreneur before I even knew what the word was. I've always been a really curious girl. When I was younger, I created a little shop called the Bunny Shop. When we would have family over the holidays, I would make all of these little drawings, sculptures, and I would put them up for sale. And I had a little price tags. Everything was maybe, like, $0.50, $1. I think the most expensive thing was $3, and I think it was a sculpture. I've always been just, again, so curious, going into my mom's closet and my grandmother's closet and looking at their shoes and their clothing. My mom would always stop at a vintage store or some antique store, and I remember always looking around. And so being exposed to, whether it's an antique store, vintage, going to a flea market, and just being around things, and really being curious, and picking up-- whether it was a candlestick and flipping it over and looking at it. And so being exposed to that, even though I really didn't know, I was educating my eye from an early age. It's just being aware of your surroundings. Sometimes it's actually good just to take your phone and take photos of things, and it's, like, the crop of something. It's how you look at something, and do use a flash or not? And you start to develop your voice and to see things in a different light. [MUSIC PLAYING] The women in my family have always been really strong women. And I guess they were kind of the bosses of the home. They were in charge, and their voice mattered. Both of my grandmothers worked. They had three children, they were very active moms, and they really taught me about being independent, and strong, and that I have a voice, and I can do anything I want. Growing up, my mom, and my grandmother, and my family would always say, you have to take care of yourself. You can be independent. You have to be the driver of your life, and nobody is going to take care of you other than yourself. And love what you do, and follow your passion and dreams. It wasn't like, you have to go to this school, you have to do this. It was like, do what you feel is important. And I tell my boys that. Do you want to do because being happy is the most important thing in the world. I feel so blessed that I'm doing designing and doing what I love every day. Yes, it can get stressful and overwhelming, but anything can. But I'm so blessed that I get to design and create and, like, pinch myself every day. [MUSIC PLAYING] Graphic design has always been something that I've loved from when I was making drawings at the Bunny Shop to the scarves in my grandmother and mother's drawer. Even going to these flea markets and looking at all these old magazines from the '60s and '50s and seeing fashion, and music, and all this great stuff felt really energizing to me.
