[MUSIC PLAYING] CHRISTIANE AMANPOUR: Ranked the most powerful stylists by "The Hollywood Reporter," she is Karla Welch. She is a redoubtable force in the fashion world. She is the red carpet fairy godmother to today's A-list stars, waving her magic wand over Karlie Kloss, Elisabeth Moss, Justin Bieber, Lorde, and many, many more. Her flair for fashion threads a political needle too, recently collaborating with Levi's to lobby for gun control. BUSY PHILLIPS: Karla responds to what makes each of us unique, and she lets our respective personalities shine through the clothes she puts us in. And to me, that's really the magic trick of what you do. I am so proud to present my friend and stylist Karla Welch with the Voice of Style Award. KARLA WELCH: I work with really such amazing women. It's such a community that we have and that we share. Thank you. I really believe in the power of being well-dressed. And it doesn't mean spending a ton of money. It doesn't mean expensive clothes at all. It's the energy you can give to people, which, you know, some people might laugh and say, oh my god. It's a dress. But it's more than a dress. And it was a men's store, haberdashery, that sold, like, suits, but it also sold Gore-Tex jackets. I would go after school and help clean, and then I would do his window displays. Growing up, I went to Catholic school. So I had to wear a uniform, which eventually became quite devastating because all I wanted to do was not wear that uniform. So I would think about when I got to high school and what I would wear. And I was already planning my looks out at a very, very young age. Then when I got to high school, and I had a job, we did, like, one shopping trip a year. We would drive down to the city, Vancouver. And whatever money I saved, my parents would match, and then I got to buy my own school clothes. I can still feel, like, the excitement of going in to like the mall there and picking my own school clothes. Growing up, I had two shows that really solidified my love of fashion. The first one is called "Mr. Dress Up," and I just loved...
