[MUSIC PLAYING] - You can discover your own personal style at any point in your life. There's freedom in knowing that you can start at any given moment. I don't want people to ever feel intimidated by clothes, especially at home. A lot of what I'm saying can maybe sound intimidating, but it's really not if you break it down for yourself. [MUSIC PLAYING] If you want to change up your style, I think one of the easiest ways at home to do it is to look at people whose style you like. Look at what they're wearing and think about what you can emulate yourself. Imitation is the highest form of flattery. Find people you love on Instagram, on TV shows. Tear pictures out of magazines, like create your own little mood board. A mood board is an arrangement of images, materials, pieces of text, sometimes objects that can evoke or project a particular style or concept. It can include anything that inspires you. I often use a mood board to articulate a vision to a client, to my team. In the age of social media, our visual libraries are now in our hands through Instagram. And when I get asked, how can I have great personal style, it's hard because I want to say, "Of course you can have great personal style." A lot of it is internal and natural, but it can be developed. And I think a great way of doing that is always keep a journal. Write it down. Say, "Oh, wow, I loved that color combination of red and purple. I would never have thought it or chartreuse and navy blue." Just give yourself all these little clues and understanding of what you see out in the world-- visuals, rather, of what you see out in the world and just start remembering them. [MUSIC PLAYING] A great way to discover your own style and start your own style journey is to clean out your closet and to organize it, so dressing becomes easier. If you have your closet kind of lined up in a very organized system-- It's going to happen much easier for you. I always love starting from top to bottom. Section everything off. And even within those sections, put everything in color so your black blazers, your tweed blazers-- I'm giving you my closet right now-- your white button-ups, maybe your blue button-ups, maybe some blouses, and then into your T-shirts and then into your pants. If you have room, hang everything because that is the best way to see everything. I know for a fact that I have many things I don't even remember tucked back in drawers. So if you can see your closet, it makes getting dressed very, very easy. And then within that, edit out what you don't wear. If you have not worn it for two years, you're probably not going to wear it. Barack Obama actually has the same shirt and the same ties, and he has it all laid out for him because he never wanted to waste his mental energy. So clean out your closet and organize it. Don't waste your brain energy, in the morning especially, on deciding what you're going to wear. ...
