[MUSIC PLAYING] MAN: At the end of the day, we're all athletes. For all of us, our sport is life, so you want to feel good in your daily life, in your daily activities. [MUSIC PLAYING] Getting in shape is a easy way to do that. You want to feel good, especially as we age, so I like to take a biomotor skills approach to fitness. Some key biomotor skills are coordination, strength, endurance and conditioning, agility, balance, things of that nature. [MUSIC PLAYING] To put it simply, biomotor skills are the functions the body uses when it's doing any type of physical activity. Whether that be running to catch the subway or diving into the end zone, both are examples of your biomotor skills at work. Developing and maintaining these biomotor skills is fundamental to improving your personal health level and achieving your fitness goals. That's why I base pretty much all my workouts around these five core biomotor skills. One of the coolest things about biomotor skills is that they're all interconnected. Working on one biomotor skill can improve the other's. For example, improved flexibility and strength typically leads to improved mobility as well. So I want to get better conditioning and endurance, it's not just running, you know. I could-- there's forms of strength training or weightlifting that you could do that could help your endurance. Maybe you want to go on the elliptical, maybe you want to go for hikes, maybe want to go dance, maybe you want to go play in the park, maybe you want to go play basketball. Kind of sport is life kind of moment. Or maybe mobility exercises like yoga or bar, things of that nature. It's understanding that those skills are a foundational component of human fitness. So remember, when you think about working out, choose activities you like doing. There is no one exercise or activity that is a must do when it comes to your fitness plan. Think more about themes. Lots of different types of exercises and fun recreational activities can get the job done, as long as they work those biomotor skills in a way that advances your personal goals. So a biomotor skills approach, you know, I gave you a few, but there are more. Keep going, keep discovering them. And then you could create a plan that works best for you, not just what people say just works for them. [MUSIC PLAYING] It's basic and it's simple. That's what makes my stuff work. I'm not going to tell you to go balance on your head. I'm not going to tell you to do one of those weird social media workouts where people are walking on their hands for 10 blocks. I'm going to tell you to do the key things that humans are made to do. When you're choosing a exercise to put into your workout, again, this is what I want you to understand, everybody wants a magic bullet. But this is where people mess up. You think, if I do this workout then I'm going to have the perfect body and it's going to be magical, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh, duh. Everybody's body ...
