[MUSIC PLAYING] - I think one of the major goals that each of us has to have in pursuing whatever our dreams are, whatever our ambitions might be, is how to overcome setbacks. You will have them. You will not win every game you're in, every race you're in. You will not get every job you want. You will not get all that you desperately hope for the first time, maybe the second or the third time. So you have to have a personal philosophy that you develop about how to deal with setbacks that goes right to the core of your resilience, your capability to keep going despite disappointments. And I can share with you what I have tried to do. But I want to inspire you to think about setbacks you've already had in life, whether it be personal and relationships or professional or public. What did you do? And what can you learn from overcoming the setbacks in your life, so you're better prepared the next time it happens? [MUSIC PLAYING] I think anyone who tries anything is going to fail from time to time. And it's a inevitable part of risk and ambition and reaching as hard and far as you can for what you care about, what you believe in. That was our goal. But when we began working on it, it was immediately obvious that the broken system we had was, number one, very profitable for a lot of people within the health care business. And number two, it was the system that people knew. And they were afraid that any change would disadvantage them. And that was a powerful set of beliefs and values, as you might say, that really made it difficult and, in the end, impossible to enact a universal health care system. The effort to try to explain what we were proposing was being met with really raucous, negative crowds filled with quite threatening people. And talk radio was stirring everybody up. RUSH LIMBAUGH: Imagine you're on this commission, and Hillary's got a rotten idea. How do you tell the president that his wife's idea is not good? - I think in some ways by choosing an inside policy role, she made everything much more complicated for herself. - After the debacle of her 1,300-page simple health care plan, I think she's seen the light, which is to think small. - I mean, it was a pretty public defeat. I mean, everybody in the world knew that I was leading this effort. And then, bang, it fails. For me, when I face a setback, I t...
