INTERVIEWER: So I guess I just wanted to start out by asking you, is a little weird to be in that chair, the interview chair? - It's happened a few times before. I have done some interviews. And remember, the first part of my career-- first 15 years of my career, I was getting interviewed a lot more than I was interviewing people. So it brings back some sense memories a bit. But it's not my usual chair at this point. You're right. MAN: George Stephanopoulos. GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: What does your gut tell you? Did you cross a line? - Well, hold on a second, George. - That's the fundamental question, George. - Look, George-- - I love you, man. GEORGE STEPHANOPOULOS: Communication is what we do as human beings. That's how we relate to each other. We do it with our voices, we do it with our minds, we do it with our bodies, and we do it the way we carry ourselves through the streets. It's just the heart of how we relate to each other. And Good Morning America, we begin this week with so much emotion and unrest all across the country. Good morning and welcome to This Week. And I hope that people will be able to draw lessons from that, that they can apply to their own lives. In this MasterClass, I'm going to break down everything you need to know about being an effective communicator. We're going to talk about different kinds of conversations and the techniques you can use to be effective in them. I'm going to teach you how to ask the right questions to get real answers. We're going to take a look back and break down some of my favorite conversations and interviews with presidents, with celebrities, everyday people. In this class, I'm going to teach you what you need to know to communicate with clarity and achieve your potential. I probably got my first communications lesson from my dad when I was an altar boy. My father, grandfather, uncle, godfather, cousins, are all Greek Orthodox priests. As I was growing up, it was certainly the first thing I believed I would grow up to do. Whenever I would go out to read the creed, he would always turn to me and kind of stage whisper, loud and slow, loud and slow. And I know it was the right lesson. I know it was exactly what I should be doing. I probably still haven't learned it. I probably sti...
