How to Have Sex on a Table
If you’re experimenting with table sex for the first time, try following these tips.
- 1. Make your surface clean and comfortable. Before you engage in any sexual activity on a table, lay a clean blanket down on top of it. Not only will a blanket add some extra cushion to the table's hard surface, but it will protect the table from bodily fluids and lube so that cleanup is easy. Especially if you’re having sex on a kitchen table, you want to make sure to clean up afterward, to prevent any bacteria exchanged during sex from making its way into your food.
- 2. Mind the height of your table. If you’re having penetrative sex and the person doing the penetrating is standing, you want to make sure that the table hits them at about waist level to ensure comfort and avoid muscle strain. The person being penetrated can lie down with their back on the table and their hips at the edge, making it easy for the penetrating person to maneuver in and out of them in a rhythmic way.
- 3. Choose a sturdy surface. It’s very important that the table you’re having sex on can support the weight of two bodies—both yours and your partners—because you can get injured if the table collapses or shifts. Consider using a pool table or large desk for some sturdy yet unconventional tabletop surfaces.
- 4. Switch up the positions. Table sex doesn't mean both partners have to always be on top of the table at all times. There are a number of positions—like seated sex or doggy style—that allow you to switch things up, and use the table as leverage rather than a place to lay down.
- 5. Incorporate toys. One of the benefits of table sex is that it allows for easy clitoral stimulation. If you or your partner have a clitoris, use a vibrator to stimulate it during sex to add extra sensation and pleasure.
4 Sex Positions on a Table
Check out these table sex positions you can try with your partner.
- 1. Modified missionary: A common table sex position is missionary, with one partner lying on their back with their hips hanging slightly over the table’s edge, as the other partner stands in front of them. The person lying down can either elevate their legs over their partner's shoulders for deep penetration, wrap their legs around their partner, or straddle their partner’s hips.
- 2. Seated oral sex: Seated oral sex is a great spin on oral sex, whether it is foreplay or the main event. Have one partner sit on the edge of the table with their legs hanging off of the side, as the other partner kneels on the floor so their head is between the other partner’s legs. This can eliminate neck strain as one partner goes down on the other.
- 3. Standing doggy-style: Standing doggy-style is when both partners stand against the edge of the table, with one partner penetrating the other from behind, as the person being penetrated leans on the table for support. The standing doggy-style position allows for deep penetration, whether you’re having vaginal or anal sex. It can also open up doors to experiment with BDSM, as the partner who is behind can easily hold the front partner’s wrists behind their back, or spank them using paddles or floggers.
- 4. Seated reverse cowgirl: Seated reverse cowgirl requires both partners to sit in a chair and face the table. The receiver sits on the giver's lap like they would in reverse cowgirl, freeing their arms up to grab the table and it as leverage. This way, the receiver has greater control over the angle and depth of penetration.
