- Now that you've seen all of the pitfalls and all of the minuses and pluses that are involved in playing this instrument, do you still want to play the violin? It's so damn difficult. What are you doing? Just become a doctor, a lawyer, an accountant. Somebody actually said that to me once. [PLAYING VIOLIN] PROFESSOR: If you only take three things from this class, the first thing is practice slowly. That's number one. Number two is listen very carefully to what goes on while you practice, because playing is a physical involvement which can affect your ear. So if you can actually be a better listener as a result of what we are talking about, that's a very good accomplishment. And the third thing is to share and to feel my enthusiasm for music, to feel that we as musicians-- especially musicians who make a living in music-- are extremely lucky that, for me, what can be better than earning a living-- making a living while performing great art, performing great music? So if you can feel that, the class has accomplished a lot. So I wish you good luck and good practicing and goodbye.
