[MUSIC PLAYING] - Climbing creates this intimacy with nature. And I think the more that people can connect with nature, the more they want to protect it. Whenever you're a beginner at anything, you should strive to achieve the sort of moral and ethical standards that the people that have been doing that activity have established over a lot of years. Leave no trace principles are sort of guidance to achieve those moral and ethical standards. - Meaning when you leave the place that you're climbing, it should be in the same state as when you arrived. - And generally, I feel like people need to view the outdoor and climbing environment like they're visiting somebody else's home. So simply just treat it with respect and do the things as if you don't own it. - That's a good way to think about it. - So make sure that you don't leave any trash behind. Human waste at the crags, you need to avoid that. You know, bring a bag to pack it out. - Make sure that you're not destroying anything or marring the rock in any way that you can avoid. Just make sure that when you leave, the next person can have the same experience that you had. - Yeah. Woo-hoo!
