Robin Arzón’s Power Playlist: 3 Songs to Get Energized
Your power playlist could be filled with rock, pop, dance, or hip-hop songs, as long as the tracks have some motion to them and a driving beat. (Music that’s chill, on the other hand, might lend itself well to a relaxing exercise, like a yoga routine or recovery run.) Here are a few songs that give Robin her swagger:
- 1. “Let’s Get Loud” by Jennifer Lopez: “This song is an anthem for writing your story, for dancing in your joy, and even dancing in your pain. It tells us ‘let’s get loud, let’s be vocal about who we are and what we’re here to do.’ She says, ‘Live your life, don’t you waste it.’ I feel like there’s an urgency in this song that’s really inspiring. She’s giving you permission to incorporate joy, levity, and play.”
- 2. “All I Do Is Win” by D.J. Khaled: “I listen to this when I want to get pumped up for training or visualize the finish line. I even listen before important business meetings to remind myself of my worth. I’ve never done a contract negotiation and not listened to a song on my power playlist. ‘Everybody’s hands go up’ means the crowd is here for you, the team is here for you, and your community is here for you. They’re witnessing your greatness, which should make you even prouder.”
- 3. “Paper Planes” by M.I.A.: “When I was a lawyer and I had to pump myself up for depositions, I’d listen to this song on repeat. The lyrics had no relevance to my day-to-day life, but the emotion it brought out of me was incredibly powerful—and the beat is insane. It’s become my anthem.”
