The Vieux Carré cocktail is a New Orleans classic. This drink recipe appeared in a 1930s edition of Famous New Orleans Drinks and How to Mix ’Em, written by Stanley Clisby Arthur, which was based on the recipe from the Hotel Monteleone’s head bartender (at the time), Walter Bergeron. The name “vieux carré” refers to the French term for The French Quarter, “the old square.”
