Drain the soaked oats and place the oats, the remaining 3 cups of water, milk, and salt in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over high heat, then immediately reduce the heat to medium-low and simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

After 20 minutes, check the texture of the oats. If they’re too crunchy, continue to simmer them until they reach the desired texture.
