What Is Rabokki?
Rabokki is a sweet and spicy Korean soup. The name and dish is a combination of ramyeon (instant ramen noodles) and tteokbokki. Tteokbokki (also spelled ddeokbokki or topokki) is a popular Korean street food featuring tender, chewy rice cakes tossed in a spicy sauce made with gochujang, a fermented chili paste, and dried gochugaru chili powder. Enjoy these spicy rice cakes as a snack, or serve them as a side dish or appetizer alongside your favorite Korean recipes.
Popular Ingredients for Rabokki
Rabokki typically contains instant ramen noodles, Korean rice cakes, Korean fish cakes, gochujang sauce, hard-boiled eggs, cabbage, and scallions. Some versions of Rabokki include ingredients like dumplings (mandu), mozzarella cheese, seaweed, kimchi, and fried seaweed spring rolls (gimmari). Rabokki is popular in Korea for its high-impact flavor and low cost. To make Rabokki, you can use water or store-bought broth for the base, or make homemade stock with dried anchovies and kelp.
