White Lady Cocktail Recipe: How to Make a White Lady

Written by MasterClass

Last updated: Aug 31, 2024 • 1 min read

The White Lady cocktail is a simple one, but it has a few variations. One version of the cocktail, made with brandy and crème de menthe, was crafted by Harry MacElhone in his 1921 book Harry’s ABC’s of Mixing Cocktails. Another version can be found in The Savoy Cocktail Book (1930) written by Harry Craddock—a classic cocktail you can still order at the Savoy Hotel’s American Bar today. This version of the White Lady recipe creates a dry, tart drink akin to a whiskey sour or a Chelsea Sidecar.
