Skateboarding is a fun activity that requires patience and practice to master. The pop shove-it (or pop shuvit) is a simple move skaters can perform as a solo trick, or as part of a combination with other flip tricks, creating complex-looking maneuvers. Like most skate tricks, including the nollie, heelflip, kickflip, and various fakie tricks, pop shove-its take practice, and also require proper balance and technique.

What Is a Frontside Pop Shove-It?
A frontside pop shove-it (also known as a frontside shuv-it or FS pop shove-it) is a skateboarding trick that combines an ollie with a frontside 180 degree rotation. While a shove-it rotates the board 180 degrees in the air, a pop shove-it combines a shove-it and an ollie (the pop), allowing skateboarders to get even more air while the board spins to execute the move. The frontside refers to how the board turns toward the front, rather than the back (like in a backside pop shove-it).
How to Do a Frontside Pop Shove-It
If you’re a skater looking to add more skateboard tricks to your repertoire, try a frontside pop shove-it using the steps below:
- 1. Get the right foot position. Position your back foot so your big toe presses on the tip of the tail. Position your front foot slightly in front of the middle of the board, with your heel on the board and your toes hanging off.
- 2. Rotate the board. Pop your tail while also pushing it out toeside to start your board’s frontside rotation beneath you.
- 3. Guide the board with your front foot. Use your front foot to guide your board as it rotates so it completes a full 180.
- 4. Catch the board. When the board has nearly completed the full 180, catch it with your front foot to stop its rotation, then catch the tail of the board with your back foot and bring it down to the ground to complete the trick.
