How to Cut Limes Wedges in 5 Steps
Follow these steps to cut limes into four wedges:
- 1. Gather your materials. To cut limes into wedges, you will need a cutting board and a sharp knife like a paring knife.
- 2. Rinse the lime. Wash your lime to remove any dirt or grime, and peel off any stickers.
- 3. Cut off the ends. You can slice the ends of the lime to make squared-off wedges or leave the pointed ends on the fruit.
- 4. Halve the lime. Cut the lime in half lengthwise.
- 5. Cut the lime into quarters. Place the lime on the cutting board, cut-side down, and cut the lime pieces in half. You now have four lime quarters.
You can also use this technique to cut lemon wedges or other citrus fruit wedges.
3 Tips for Cutting Limes Wedges
When cutting lime wedges, consider these tips:
- 1. Soften the lime. You can soften the lime before you cut it to make the whole lime easier to cut and easier to press the juice out of. To soften the lime, roll it on a hard counter, pressing your hand against the lime as you roll it.
- 2. Use lime wedges as a garnish. To place the lime wedge on the rim of a glass as a cocktail garnish, make a small cut in the fruit through the pith, and place the rim inside the cut.
- 3. Cut additional wedges. You can cut the halves into thirds or even quarters if you have a larger lime to get six to eight lime wedges.
