What Is a Graham Cracker Crust?

Graham cracker crust is a type of cake crust or pie crust made from crushed graham crackers bound together with butter or oil. This type of crust is especially popular with no-bake pies and can be made with graham crackers, digestive biscuits, and other types of crackers and cookies. You can even make a gluten-free cookie crust by substituting wheat-free crackers or cookies.

3 Ways to Use Graham Cracker Crust

A homemade graham cracker crust will elevate your next pie. These are just some of the ways to top this crust:

  1. 1. Cheesecake: This classic cream cheese-based cake is traditionally made with a graham cracker crust in a springform pan. Graham cracker crust is also the ideal base for a no-bake cheesecake.
  2. 2. Key lime pie: Key lime pie is another classic pie that's almost always made with a graham cracker crust. The sandy crust provides a nice contrast to the creamy lime custard filling and meringue topping.
  3. 3. Banana cream pie: There are lots of ways to make a banana cream pie, but if you don't want to turn on your oven, use a graham cracker crust as your base.
