What Is a Godchild Drink?

The Godchild cocktail (also called the Goddaughter or Godson) is a simple combination of Italian amaretto liqueur and heavy cream. This low-alcohol dessert cocktail or after-dinner drink is usually shaken and served in a Champagne flute, but can also be stirred and served in an Old Fashioned glass. Some variations of the mixed drink include a splash of vodka to increase the alcohol content or a garnish of freshly ground nutmeg.

The Godchild cocktail belongs in the same family as many other Italian-themed drink recipes, including the boozy Godfather cocktail (a combination of Scotch whisky and amaretto) and Godmother cocktail (a combination of vodka and amaretto). All three drinks have a simple two-ingredient format, united by the Italian amaretto.
