A Brief Introduction to Emily Morse

Dr. Emily Morse is a sex therapist and author best known as the founder and host of the award-winning podcast Sex With Emily. Since 2005, Sex With Emily’s honest, candid conversations about pleasure, intimacy, and sexual wellness—the first episode included discussions about polyamory and bikini waxes and an interview with a man named Captain Erotica—has gained the attention of millions of listeners.

As her audience grew, Emily expanded into other media. In 2011, she coauthored the book Hot Sex: 200 Things You Can Try Tonight. She starred in the Bravo reality series Miss Advised the following year, served as co-host of the Loveline Radio Show alongside Dr. Drew Pinsky, released a smartphone app called Kegel Camp, and signed with SiriusXM to make Sex With Emily a radio show. She’s also written a column for Glamour, been featured on The Today Show, and had profiles in Cosmopolitan, the Los Angeles Times, and the New York Times (where she was proposed as “the Dr. Ruth of a new generation”).

Born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Emily double-majored in psychology and political science at the University of Michigan. She also attended the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality to become a doctor of human sexuality.

The Sex With Emily Podcast

In 2005, inspired by her early work as a documentarian (including on the award-winning film See How They Run) and compelled by her conversations with friends about sex, Emily decided to start recording her discussions and publish them. She hired some help off Craigslist, conducted interviews from her living room, and posted them online—and, in doing so, became one of the first weekly podcast hosts.

Sex With Emily is now over a decade into its historic run and is widely cited as one of the longest-running sex and relationship podcasts in history, with her podcast episodes receiving more than 1 million downloads per month.

Emily Morse in Miss Advised

In 2012, Emily starred in the Bravo reality television show Miss Advised alongside Amy Laurent, a successful matchmaking agency founder, and Julia Allison, a TV personality and columnist. Together, the three relationship experts offered practical dating advice while trying to navigate the dating world themselves.

During the show’s single-season run, Emily was thrust into a few unique situations, including going on a date with her grade-school crush and taking part in an emotional therapy session about her romantic past.

Publications by Emily Morse

Along with sexologist Jamye Waxman, Emily co-authored the book Hot Sex: Over 200 Things You Can Try Tonight, which offers ideas and step-by-step instructions for a healthier and more fulfilling sex life, from sex toys to masturbation to new positions.

The Kegel Camp App

In 2011, Emily helped launch Kegel Camp, a smartphone app that helps guide users through a series of Kegel workouts—exercises common in both women’s and men’s health to strengthen pelvic floor muscles and help with bladder control and sexual function. The app features 20 levels of difficulty and helps users navigate regular exercise sessions using visual and audio cues.
