What Is a Cranberry Gin Fizz Cocktail?
A Cranberry Gin Fizz is a fruity, carbonated cocktail consisting of homemade cranberry syrup, lemon juice, club soda, and gin. This refreshing cold gin cocktail is light and fizzy, making it ideal for celebrations and gatherings throughout summer and into the holiday season.
4 Tips for Making a Cranberry Gin Fizz Cocktail
Follow these tips to make the best Cranberry Gin Fizz cocktail possible:
- 1. Make the syrup ahead of time. Prepare the homemade cranberry syrup for this cocktail a few days in advance. Let the syrup cool to room temperature before storing it in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you’re ready to craft the cocktail.
- 2. Experiment with additions. Customize this fizzy drink with tasty additions like fresh herbs, sparkling beverages, or a dash of bitters. Use flavored sparkling water, lemon-lime soda, club soda, tonic water, ginger beer, or ginger ale for flavorful fizziness. Add a dash of lime juice or orange juice and frozen or fresh cranberries for an extra fruity flavor. Garnish the cocktail with a sprig of thyme or rosemary for an herbaceous note, or dip the rim in sugar for a hint of sweetness with each sip.
- 3. Make a non-alcoholic version. For a refreshing mocktail that party guests of all ages can enjoy, substitute cranberry juice or additional sparkling water for the gin.
- 4. Batch the drink out. For a crowd-friendly festive cocktail, make a large batch. Make the base by combining the syrup, gin, and lemon juice in a pitcher or punch bowl. Ladle the cocktail base over ice and top it with club soda just before serving.
