What Are Almond Flour Brownies?
Almond flour brownies are a grain-free version of the fudgy, chocolatey dessert made with almond flour. Almond flour brownie recipes feature the ingredients of traditional brownies, including milk, butter, sugar, eggs, and almond flour in place of all-purpose flour. These fudgy brownies have a texture that’s a mixture of chocolate cake and fudge.
5 Tips for Making Almond Flour Brownies
Follow these tips to make the fudgiest chocolate almond flour brownies:
- 1. Add chocolate chips. For even more chocolate flavor, additional sweetness, and complex texture, add chocolate chips to the batter. When the chocolate chips melt, they become soft and gooey, or when the brownies are at room temperature, the chocolate becomes firm and offers a crunch. Use semisweet chocolate, dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate.
- 2. Lightly beat the eggs. Introducing a lot of air into the brownie mixture creates cakey brownies as opposed to fudgy brownies. To avoid this, beat the eggs and sugar together just until they combine but before they become light and fluffy. This helps to produce a denser, fudgier brownie.
- 3. Use only brown sugar. For chewy brownies, use only brown sugar instead of brown sugar and white, granulated sugar. Either light brown sugar or dark brown sugar will work, although dark brown sugar possesses a more intense molasses flavor that you might find complements a fudgy texture better. Or, replace the sugar with a natural sweetener such as maple syrup, honey, or monk fruit.
- 4. Add a boost of flavor. You can customize the taste of your brownies with various toppings. Sprinkle the brownies with your favorite chocolate candies or pecans, coarsely chopped, before baking. You can also top the brownies with peanut butter frosting after baking. Try a sprinkle of flaky sea salt on top for a simple, elevated touch.
- 5. Make vegan brownies. Make vegan brownies by substituting flax eggs (hydrated flax meal), almond butter, or a vegan egg replacer for the egg and vegan, dairy-free chocolate chips in place of regular chocolate chips.
